Kelli Summers, originally from Colorado, attended the University of Rochester and graduated with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. After college, she was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to develop strategies combatting childhood pneumonia fatalities in a Ghanaian rural hospital. Subsequently, Kelli traveled to Austria under a Whitaker Fellowship to conduct research on developing a novel nanoparticle to help detect vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque. Kelli then graduated from Stony Brook University School of Medicine and matched into Louisiana State University's integrated vascular surgery residency program where she is currently a 5th year resident, graduating this June.
