Dr. Naomi Hamburg is Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Vascular Biology Section at Boston University School of Medicine, Boston Medical Center. She completed her medical training at Harvard Medical School, Internal Medicine training at Massachusetts General Hospital and Cardiology and Vascular Medicine Fellowship at Boston University/Boston Medical Center. She has an active translational research program focused on understanding mechanisms of endothelial dysfunction in metabolic diseases and peripheral artery disease as well as a focus on understanding the cardiovascular health effects of novel tobacco products. Dr. Hamburg has multiple research projects funded through the NIH and has more than 150 publications in the medical literature. She is co-Chairing the Peer Review of the ACCF/AHA Guidelines for the Management of Patients with Lower Extremity Arterial Disease. She serves as an Associate Editor for the journal Circulation Research, is the immediate past-chair of the Peripheral Vascular Disease Council of the American Heart Association and has served on the Board of Trustees of the Society of Vascular Medicine, and as the American Society of Echocardiography representative to the Vascular Testing Board of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission.
