Michael A. Ricci, MD is Emeritus Professor of Surgery at the University of Vermont College of Medicine and Section Chief of Vascular Surgery at Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute in Lewiston, Maine. He spent 23 years at the University of Vermont and Fletcher Allen Health Care before moving to Maine in 2012. Dr. Ricci is the author of 110+ peer-reviewed publications and 11 book chapters on topics in telemedicine and vascular surgery. In addition, Dr. Ricci serves in the Vermont Air National Guard and is the State Air Surgeon, the top medical position in the State. He holds the rank of Colonel. Dr. Ricci has twice served in Iraq in 2006 and 2007, as both a flight surgeon and a trauma surgeon as well as in Afghanistan as a vascular/trauma surgeon (2010). He continues to fly in the F-16, KC-135, and UH-60 military aircraft as a flight surgeon.
Dr. Ricci obtained a BA degree from Hamilton College and his MD from the SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY. He then trained in General Surgery at the Guthrie Clinic in Sayre, PA and obtained vascular fellowship training from McGill University in Montreal
