Dr Bob Tahara is currently the Director of Allegheny Vein & Vascular in Bradford, PA and Attending Surgeon in Vascular Surgery at Meadville Medical Center, Meadville, PA. He maintains an academic appointment as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Department of Surgery/Division of Vascular Surgery, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is a busy practicing vascular surgeon with sub-specialty interests in complex venous disease and minimally invasive & duplex ultrasound guided arterial interventions. His current research activities center on iliocaval venous occlusive disease, tibial/pedal access for CLI treatment, and substitution of flouroscopy with duplex for primary guidance during endovascular arterial interventions. Dr. Tahara is an active member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, the American Venous Forum, and is a charter member of the Office Endovascular and Interventional Society (OEIS). He is currently President-Elect of OEIS and active in national policy and advocacy issues supporting office based vascular practice. Prior to completing his surgical training , Dr Tahara served as a US Navy Diving Medical Officer after graduating from US Navy Dive School in 1994. He is an unrepentant tinkerer, an avid fly-fisherman, an experienced gunsmith, a burgeoning custom watchmaker, and most recently acheived his 1st Dan rank in Kendo.
