David is a senior Surgical Resident Physician at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Shock Trauma Hemorrhage Control and Resuscitation laboratory. David has a Doctor of Medicine degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where upon graduation he was the recipient of the H. William Scott Prize in Surgery, which is awarded to the top Vanderbilt Medical Student applying to a surgical residency. He also has a master’s degree in Applied Mathematics.
David has published over 60 research articles and presented at numerous national and international conferences. His translational research interest is in hemorrhage control and vascular surgery with large animals, with a focus on medical device design and validation. His clinical research interest is in using big data, machine learning, and outcome science to improve the care of surgical patients. David is also an analyst for Catalio Capital Management, LP, which is a biotechnology focused investment firm, where he is a Registered Investment Advisor performing scientific diligencing to support the firm’s investment strategies. David hopes to pursue a fellowship in vascular and endovascular surgery after he finishes surgical residency.
