Margaret C. Tracci, MD

Margaret C. Tracci, M.D., J.D., is board-certified in general and vascular surgery. Her clinical and academic interests include the open surgical and endovascular treatment of aortic and peripheral vascular disease, the management of compressive disorders in athletes, and functional outcomes following surgery. After graduating from Stanford University, Dr. Tracci attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she earned a dual MD/JD degree with a focus on health policy and patient safety. She completed a surgery residency and vascular surgery fellowship at University of Virginia, Charlottesville (UVA), where she was named Chief Resident of the Year and received awards for excellence in teaching and humanism.

Dr. Tracci joined the UVA faculty in 2010 and is currently a Professor of Surgery with appointments in the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and the School of Public Health Sciences. She serves as Program Director for the Fellowship in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, is a member of the Academy of Distinguished Educators, and was recently elected President of the Clinical Staff.

She has authored or co-authored more than 60 publications and has presented both research and invited lectures at regional and national meetings. Dr. Tracci is also a past president of the Virginia Vascular Society and a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, Southern Association for Vascular Surgery, Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, the Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society and American College of Surgeons and is active in service to these organizations, with a focus on health policy and advocacy.
