Philippe Kolh, MD, PhD, cardio-vascular surgeon, is Professor of Human Physiology and Biochemistry at the University of Liège, Belgium. He is also Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chairman of the Department of Medico-Economic Information at the University Hospital of Liège, an 1,100 bed facility. Professor Kolh is a scientist, physician, and administrator, with substantial and diverse experience in information technology and accomplishments in biotechnology and bioengineering, and non-profit organizations. His background involves significant experience in funded scientific research, and he has served on several scientific advisory boards, mainly in the life sciences and in information technology. The author of more than 270 publications in peer reviewed Journals, Pr. Kolh has given more than 320 international lectures. He is Editor-in-Chief Emeritus (2016-2019) of the European Journal of Vascular and EndoVascular Surgery (EJVES), Associate Editor Emeritus (2013-2019) of the European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EJCTS), Editorial Board member of the European Heart Journal (EHJ), and Consulting Editor of EHJ – Digital Health. He is co-Editor of the 2019 Global Vascular Guidelines on Chronic Limb Threatening Ischaemia. Professor Kolh has been elected Associated Member of the Royal Belgian Academy for Medicine in 2020. Past President of the Belgian Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (2011-2013) and of the Royal Belgian Society of Surgery (2013-2014), he currently serves as President Elect of the European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS) and Vice-President of the World Federation of Vascular Societies (WFVS).
